ARTSPARK 2022 FUNDRAISER

“ArtSpark 2022 Gala and Fundraiser brought in almost $25,000 to

support Artist Residencies in 4j Elementary schools! With the help of

ArtSpark funding, the 2022-23 school year has seen a major

resurgence of the arts in classrooms across Eugene School

District 4J. Lane Arts Council has scheduled 23 ArtSpark funded

Artist Residencies in 12 Eugene 4J elementary schools. Schools

have the opportunity to choose from Lane Arts Council’s diverse

roster of Artist Residencies, bringing in professional Teaching

Artists who introduce art forms that they would not otherwise be

able to provide for students. This year, 3,884 elementary

students will explore a wide variety of visual and performing

arts. Watch students at Adams Elementary exploring art through

ArtSpark!”

WHAT IS ARTSPARK?

ArtSpark Eugene is a collaborative initiative led by the Rotary Club of Eugene, Lane Arts Council, the Eugene Education Foundation, and Eugene School District 4J to provide every elementary student in the 4J district with high-quality arts education led by local artists.

Lane Arts Council’s arts education programs have reached almost 7,000 elementary students and provided over 1,600 hours of professional arts education annually. This is a 60% increase in the amount of arts education that was provided before ArtSpark was implemented! Lane Arts Council continued virtual arts education during school closures through ArtStream, creating dozens of live online arts lessons for students throughout Lane County.

AN ESSENTIAL ELEMENT OF EDUCATION

Hands-on arts learning in visual and performing arts develops creative thinking and self-confidence. As we return to in-person instruction, the arts will offer students an avenue for self-expression and healing. Lane Arts Council’s teaching artists will engage minds, hearts and bodies through painting, sculpting, puppetry, collage making, dancing, music and so much more.

4J elementary schools will have access to performing arts residencies as well as visual arts residencies. Explore Lane Arts Council’s Directory of Teaching Artists (this link has been updated to http://lanearts.org/residency-descriptions/) to read more about specific teaching artists and their specialty areas for residency programs.

Talk with your school administer about booking an arts residency! Teaching Artists can be booked online or by calling Lane Arts Council’s office, 541-485-2278. Questions regarding Lane Arts Council’s arts residencies can be directed to Ben Minnis, Lane Arts Council’s Arts Education Program Coordinator, ben@lanearts.org or 541-485-2278.
