Helping to fund arts education in area schools, Rotary Club of Eugene and Lane Arts Council present The Art Spark Eugene Gala and Auction -April 27th at the Shedd!

INTRODUCTION

We believe that the arts are essential for learning and developing a well-rounded education. Through their experience in the arts, young people get to explore their creativity and develop critical thinking skills that will support them in any future endeavor. Research shows that students’ participation in the arts increases student engagement and graduation rates. In addition, “Students who study the arts seriously are taught to see better, to envision, to persist, to be playful and learn from mistakes, to make critical judgments and justify such judgments,” (Hetland and Winner, 2007).

ArtSpark will support Lane Arts Council’s artist residency program and provide students with high-quality arts experiences. The Rotary Club of Eugene has a vision to provide every elementary school in Eugene with at least one artist residency. Professional teaching artists engage young people in memorable arts experiences that align with academic learning objectives.  Schools select an artist from their teaching artist roster, including artists who teach ceramics, murals, tile portraiture, silk painting, puppetry and more. Artists residencies are customized based on the schools’ needs and are generally  2-4 weeks in length.

SPONSORS!

Thanks! to all the great sponsors who have supported the Art Spark Eugene event to fund arts education in our area schools.

DONATE

The Arts Education Program is an on-going service to our schools and our kids. Through this program, 574 kids received art training last time with the Rotary Club of Eugene’s support. This year through the ArtSpark Eugene fundraising the goal is to at least double that with over 1,200 kids receiving art education. And if additional donations are made to the program more kids will benefit. The goal ultimately is to provide an art education to every one of the thousands of kids that attend 4J schools. If you wish to make an electronic donation to this noble effort, click donate and indicate the funds will be going to Artists in Residence. if you want to send a check kindly use the address and information under the donate bar. Any amount is appropriate. Thank you for your support. Watch the movie at the top to see how much the kids appreciate it.

If you want to send a check of support for the Arts Education Program, mail and make checks payable to Rotary Club of Eugene Art Spark. 501c receipt will be sent to your indicated return address.
